The Tales of the Taibhsear Chapbook details the research used to bring the Tales of the Taibhsear album – Stories of Scottish FolkMagic to life. Our ancestors used these animistic based traditionsย up until the 20th century with many of these practices being forgotten. This short chapbook details some of the practices in both Scottish Gaelic and English. Bringing to light details about practices just discovered from 17th century witch trials in Scotland. Launched at the Dreaming Bread and Skyrie Stanes event on the 11th of November 2018.
We crafted the Tales of the Taibhsear Chapbook ย to work in partnership with the spoken word album though they also stand alone. They compliment the information, the spoken word album provides a basis in how the charms once sounded and brings the beautiful elegance of the Gaelic language to bear on the written word. Something that is not possible to do in just one format.
Debbie Armour [Burd Ellen] brings her enchanting vocals to bear on the original folk tales read by Amanda Edmiston [Botanica-fabula story telling].
